Waterfront Ferris Wheel

Nikon D800E Nikkor 24-70mm @70mm, ISO 100, f/22 @ 6 seconds on tripod

This is Seattle's answer to the waterfront ferris wheel. It was a clear night so I headed down and made a few shots. I like this one the best. The green arc is on the Seahawk's stadium in the distance.
I hope that you all have had a great Thanksgiving. Lots of people here for a great meal.

Gorge Golden Twilight

Nikon D7100 Nikon 80-400mm at 400mm. ISO 800, f/5.6 at 1/1000 sec

Many of you have seen this image already, but I wanted to post it anyway. Taken from Ruthton Park on the west side of Hood River in September, it just portrays for me what is so special about the Columbia River Gorge. I had rented this dynamite lens, but did not think it was the right one for this kind of shot. I was wrong.

Seattle at peace

Fuji X 100s 23mm ISO 200, f/5.6 @ 1/850 sec

Was at a conference at Bell Harbor and took this in early afternoon. Kinda different view of Seattle, and I like the fact that it is placid. Notice the Smith Tower off in the distance.

Moon over the East Bay

Nikon D600 28-300 @300mm ISO 800, f/5.6 1/250s

It has been a long while since my last post, and that was many images ago. We were in San Francisco this past weekend visiting our daughter. At dinner at the Embarcadero, the moon rose over the East Bay, and I managed to catch it just under the Bay Bridge. Quite a good night!

Dog Days of Summer

Nikon D7000, Nikon 28-300 @ 230mm. ISO 200. f/11 @ 1/320 sec.
Well, at least someone on the paddle board was having a grand time. It is not as clear if her dogs were sharing in her enjoyment. She was paddling along in a protected area while all the athletes were wind surfing and kite boarding in 20 knot winds on the Columbia in Hood River. Don't you just dig the matching life vests? Dog's names, from left to right are: Dude, Doodles and Elvis. Honest. And no one fell off. Amazing!

4th of July in Hood River

Nikon D800, Nikon 24-70mm lens at 70mm. ISO 200. f/11 at 4.3 sec.

I know, it has been way too long since I posted any images. There are more to come.
This image was taken from up on the hill in White Salmon, WA, on a wonderful spot that I had scouted out earlier in the day. There was only another couple there so it was pretty secluded. It is interesting to shoot fireworks, because you wait until you see something, then hold the shutter open using the "bulb" setting, and then close it when you think best. Needless to say, not every exposure works, but I did like this one and I hope that you do also. Have a great summer!

Some Sunset Drama

Nikon D700, Nikon 16-35mm @35mm. f/11 at 1/4000 sec. ISO 200

Another rainy day in Seattle gave way to a bit of light behind the clouds near sunset. Then the sun came out behind the dense black cloud. I like the drama of the black and white. There wasn't much color anyway.
